Uhuru Participates in Interverse-related Research, part of the 3rd period of the Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP)
Construct and provide a meta-work system for “Research and Development of Glocal Interverse Infrastructure for Regional Revitalization”.

Uhuru Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takashi Sonoda; hereafter, “Uhuru”) has been selected to participate in the Third Period of the Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP): Establishment of Fundamental Technologies and Rules for Expanding Virtual Economy / Research and Development of Glocal Interverse Infrastructure for Regional Activation by the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System’s Nagoya University (President: Naoshi Sugiyama, hereinafter referred to as “Nagoya University”) as a subcontractor.

This project aims to build a foundation for local communities to connect with the global community in order to revitalize a society facing aging and declining population, and by establishing “meta-work centers” in each region, provide local communities with work opportunities through the metaverse and realize a society where people can access global work from the region.

This research is being conducted by the SIP/ Development of Fundamental Technologies and Rules for the Expansion of the Virtual Economy (Research Promotion Agency: New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)) of the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation, Cabinet Office, Government of Japan.

Since 2014, Uhuru has been working on research and development of IoT systems using the no-code/low-code method, which allows anyone to easily develop applications without programming expertise. In this project, we will build an IoT-EUC infrastructure for meta-work sites (remote locations such as factories and warehouses) by utilizing Node-RED, an intuitive development tool, and enebular, our in-house service that enables easy application and system development without the need for complex coding. Through the practical application of Meta-Work, we will build a “glocal interverse infrastructure” that integrates the metaverse and the real world, aiming to economically develop local communities and resolve issues.

About Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP):
SIP is a national project established by the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) of the Cabinet Office to realize science and technology innovation by exercising a command post function and managing beyond the boundaries of ministries, agencies and traditional fields. The project addresses truly important social issues and world-leading challenges that can contribute to the revitalization of Japan’s economy, and is promoting 11 challenges in the first period from FY2014 and 12 challenges in the second period from FY2018. The program is led by a program director (PD), who provides strong leadership to each project, and promotes R&D in an integrated manner from basic research to practical application and commercialization, in other words, to the exit stage.
