The Future Investment Initiative is a global investment forum that brings together leading figures from across industries, including major global financial institutions such as BlackRock, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Mizuho Financial Group, as well as representatives from technology leaders such as Google and OpenAI. Often referred to as the “Davos in the Desert,” FII serves as a key platform that shapes the direction of the global economy.

The 9th edition welcomed approximately 9,000 participants, including prominent figures such as Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, world leaders, policymakers, business executives, and investors. Uhuru has participated in FII every year since the 2nd edition in 2018 and became an official member of the FII Institute in June 2023 (see press release).

The forum centered on discussions about advanced technologies with a focus on AI, where Uhuru engaged in exchanges with local government officials and investment organizations regarding new opportunities for technology collaboration between Japan and Saudi Arabia. In addition, as 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia, Yōichi Takahashi—the creator of the globally popular soccer manga Captain Tsubasa (known in the Arab world as “Captain Majed”) – appeared on stage to discuss the potential of Japanese entertainment, which enjoys strong popularity in the Middle East.

At the venue, we also had the opportunity to exchange views with Mr. Talal Al-Marri, CEO of the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company, and Ms. Abeer AlAkel, CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla, Saudi Arabia’s premier resort and tourism destination, discussing potential areas for future collaboration.

Under its national strategy Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia aims to diversify its economy and foster next-generation industries, moving away from oil dependency. This vision is materializing through ambitious projects such as the construction of the futuristic city NEOM, Expo 2030 Riyadh, the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and the grand opening of the entertainment megacity Qiddiya. These initiatives are enhancing Saudi Arabia’s global presence in sports, tourism, and entertainment.

Leveraging our experience and achievements in supporting digital transformation (DX) across diverse industries, Uhuru will expand its presence in the Saudi Arabian market. We will continue to drive DX in the tourism and entertainment sectors, contributing to sustainable industrial development and the creation of new value.
